Robert D. “Bob” Gilbert, founder and managing partner of Gilbert Litigators & Counselors, is an accomplished trial lawyer who has successfully represented several Fortune 100 and multinational corporations for more than 30 years. His litigation style has been described by The Legal 500 as "creative, thorough and aggressive” and he has repeatedly been selected as a "New York Super Lawyer” for commercial litigation and intellectual property litigation. On March 8, 2024, Bob was selected as the national “Litigator of the Week” by The American Lawyer Litigation Daily.
Prior to founding Gilbert Litigators, Bob was a litigation partner at major global law firms, including Mayer Brown and Dentons. His clients have included Samsung, General Electric, and Hyundai Heavy Industries. He is also the chairman and chief executive officer of VGL Capital, LLC, a privately held investment company that invests in commercial litigation and IP litigation.
Current Litigation:
Bob is a lead attorney in one of the most prominent antitrust class action lawsuits in the U.S., Henry et. al. v. Brown University et. al. Also referred to as the 568 Cartel lawsuit, the litigation alleges that 17 elite, private universities have been colluding for years in a financial aid price-fixing conspiracy. The court has already given final approval to $284 million in settlements.
