Robert D. “Bob” Gilbert, founder and managing partner of Gilbert Litigators & Counselors, is an accomplished trial lawyer who has successfully represented several Fortune 100 and multinational corporations for more than 30 years. His litigation style has been described by The Legal 500 as "creative, thorough and aggressive” and he has repeatedly been selected as a "New York Super Lawyer” for commercial litigation and intellectual property litigation. 

 

Prior to founding Gilbert Litigators, Bob was a litigation partner at major global law firms, including Mayer Brown and Dentons. His clients have included Samsung, General Electric, Hyundai Heavy Industries and GlaxoSmithKline. He is also the chairman and chief executive officer of VGL Capital, LLC, a privately held investment company that invests in commercial litigation and IP litigation.

Current Litigation: 

Bob is a lead attorney in one of the most prominent antitrust class action lawsuits in the U.S., Henry et. al. v. Brown University et. al. Also referred to as the 568 Cartel lawsuit, the litigation alleges that 17 elite, private universities have been colluding for years in a financial aid price-fixing conspiracy. The firm and its co-lead counsel represent more than 200,000 plaintiffs. The defendants are represented by several of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the world.

Bob has extensive experience, including domestic U.S. litigation and arbitration and international arbitrations of commercial disputes, specifically when the amounts in controversy have ranged from tens of millions of dollars to several billions of dollars, in the areas of:
