Robert S. Raymar, Special Counsel
Robert Raymar, special counsel at Gilbert Litigators & Counselors, has had a long and distinguished career spanning more than 40 years. After graduating from Yale Law School, he became a law clerk to Judge Leonard Garth of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He subsequently served as assistant legal counsel to the Governor of New Jersey, as a deputy attorney general for the State of New Jersey in the Division of Criminal Justice and as a member of the New Jersey Executive Commission on Ethical Standards.
When Robert is not practicing law, he has been active in politics, his community and other organizations, serving as a visiting lecturer at Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs, on the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Institute of Technology and as a New Jersey delegate to several Democratic National Conventions. He was a member of the National Executive Committee of the Yale Law School Association and was twice president of the Yale Law School Association of New Jersey. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Center for American Progress Action Fund and One Fair Wage Action, and is a member of the Alliance for Justice’s Building the Bench Advisory Council.
Current Litigation:
Robert is an advisor, working with Gilbert Litigators’ Managing Partner Robert D. “Bob” Gilbert and Partner Elpidio “PD” Villarreal, in one of the most prominent antitrust class action lawsuits in the United States, Henry et. al. v. Brown University et. al. Also referred to as the 568 Cartel lawsuit, the litigation alleges that 17 elite, private universities have been colluding for years in a financial aid price-fixing conspiracy. The firm and its co-lead counsel represent more than 200,000 plaintiffs. The defendants are represented by several of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the world.
